A lecture in the Studium Generale series in co-operation with the Villingen-Schwenningen Art Gallery
The next lecture in the Studium Generale series will take place on Wednesday, 21 May at 6.00pm in Room E 0.02 on the Schwenningen campus of Furtwangen University.
In her lecture entitled ‘Transcultural learning along the exhibition “Le Sel Noir”’, Prof. Dr Julika Baumann Montecinos will take the current programme of the Villingen-Schwenningen Municipal Gallery as a starting point to shed light on the potential of a transcultural approach to education and social exchange. The exhibition, which was inspired by the poet and philosopher Édouard Glissant, brings together contemporary works by black artists on issues of power, representation and interpersonal interaction. In this way, the exhibition aims to take a critical look at inequalities and paternalism and offer opportunities for transcultural encounters and social self-understanding. The HFU professor took this as an opportunity to develop a teaching project together with the gallery director and curator Dr Alejandro Perdomo Daniels and in exchange with participating artists, in which students from various study programmes at the HFU Business School are taking part. The background, experiences and initial results of this project will be presented at the lecture.
All are welcome to attend. Participation is free of charge and pre-registration is not required.
The Studium Generale series offers academic lectures on current and socially relevant topics. Experts from a wide range of disciplines present their findings which are then discussed with the audience.
