HFU Library benefits from India Day 2025

More than 250 people attended this year’s India Day celebration, organised by the Schwarzwald Indo-German Association (SIGA) with the support of Furtwangen University. The evening was a vibrant tribute to Indian culture, community spirit, and Indo-German friendship. The guest of honour was Shri Shatrughna Sinha, Consul General of India in Munich whose enthusiasm and full sponsorship of the event strongly encouraged the SIGA community. Other special guests included Prof. Dr. Ulrike Salat, Vice-president of HFU, and Matthias Jendryschick, Managing Director of WIR VS, both of whom have been instrumental in supporting cross-cultural collaboration in the region.

The event offered a rich array of classical and traditional Indian performances, a yoga showcase, a henna art stall, a variety of authentic Indian cuisine, and a energetic Indian DJ night − creating a comprehensive cultural experience for all participating families, students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and academic leaders. As a vibrant Indian association in the Black Forest region, SIGA is dedicated to enriching the lives of Indian students and professionals while fostering meaningful connections within the German community. A special highlight of the day was the inauguration of an “India corner” in the HFU library, featuring books and materials to promote Indian heritage and intercultural learning. India Day 2025 was more than just an event − it was a celebration of shared values and global friendships.
