Innovations are an important driver of the economy and society. In order to promote these even more strongly, HFU is one of the central partners in the EU Interreg project “KTUR² - boosting trinational innovation” − together with eleven other universities and colleges from Germany, France and Switzerland as well as important partner organisations from industry. KTUR stands for “Knowledge Transfer Upper Rhine” and the core objective of this project, which is funded with around €2.5 million, is to establish a trinational innovation ecosystem that bundles activities in the field of knowledge and technology transfer and makes the Upper Rhine region visible as an anchor point for technological innovations beyond the region.

The HFU focuses on the areas of start-up support/entrepreneurship, cooperation strategies between companies and researchers and the management/governance of transfer activities. These activities are coordinated by the HFU Innovation and Research Center Tuttlingen (IFC). “KTUR² gives us new and effective perspectives for cross-border cooperation between business and science. The project is a driving force to advance technological innovations and support the region in important transformation processes,” says Prof. Dr. Martin Haimerl, Scientific Director of the IFC and head of the KTUR² project on the HFU side. “Together, we will have the clout to initiate important developments and achieve international visibility.”

The big official project launch will take place on 20 May in Strasbourg (France). As part of the annual 360° GRAND EST networking event with over 4,000 participants, the key objectives of KTUR² will be presented and important activities launched. The event is organised by the regional economic agency of the French region “Grand Est”, which has its headquarters in Strasbourg and is closely linked to KTUR². Lars Buche, Innovation Manager at IFC, and Rudolf Merz, Transfer Manager at HFU, are looking forward to the event and the future development of the project − “KTUR² sees itself as an open network that other partners are welcome to join. Anyone who is interested should register for the event and get a direct impression of the possibilities of a tri-national innovation ecosystem. Of course, we ourselves are available as a contact partner for inquiries.”
