HFU in Tuttlingen put together school technology package
Thirty year 10 pupils of the External link opens in a new window:Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium (OHG) in Tuttlingen recently attended the microcontroller workshop on the Tuttlingen campus of Furtwangen University (HFU). In the electrical engineering laboratory, they programmed a sequence controller for a Fischertechnik model. Professor Dr. Andreas Gollwitzer, Richard Blocher and Werner Sauter from HFU supervised the groups. “We believe it's important to get pupils interested in electrical engineering and computer science − hence our commitment to the cooperation between schools and HFU,” explains Gollwitzer and continues, ”The microcontroller workshop complements the soldering and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) workshop for grades 8, 9 and 10. This is a great technology package that benefits everyone.”
The participating pupils at OHG, who are taking the “Science and Technology” (NwT) elective at their school, were supervised by teachers Robin Schneider and Roman Pokorny. “The willingness of the secondary school teachers to work with us is really motivating. The exchange is very pleasant,” concludes the HFU team from the Mechatronics Department.
