HFU students impress with creative ideas
On 6 December 2024, the Institute for Data Science, Cloud Computing and IT Security (Internal link opens in the same window:IDACUS) at Furtwangen University organized a hackathon at IMS Gear in collaboration with bwcon. The event, which was launched as part of the European Digital Innovation Hub (Internal link opens in the same window:EDIH) project, brought together students from Prof. Dr. Christoph Reich's IoT course with industry experts. The aim was to develop practice-oriented solutions for specific challenges in the development process of planetary gearboxes.
The winning team impressed with an innovative solution: a GPT-based chatbot that enables IMS Gear customers to receive tailored information directly on the website and get complex, personalized answers in real time. This solution represents a significant advance in customer service and illustrates the potential of modern AI technologies in an industrial context.
The hackathon not only offered students the opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice, but also promoted a valuable exchange between academia and industry. The event underlined the importance of cooperation between science and industry and showed how young talents can actively shape the digitalization of industry with creative ideas and technical know-how.
The IDACUS Institute would like to express its sincere thanks for the successful collaboration!
