In July 2025, Furtwangen University (HFU) launched the “HFU Skills4MedTec” project to further sharpen its profile as a leading center of excellence in medical technology and to develop targeted scientific continuing education programs for specialists and managers in the industry. The project focuses on new, practical formats for academic continuing education for companies and their employees. The programs are part-time, compact, and rely on modern learning formats such as blended learning. In terms of content, they focus on key technologies and current challenges in medical technology, such as:
- Artificial intelligence
- Virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR)
- Cyber security
- Simulation
- Innovative materials
- Usability and user experience (UX)
- Approval and regulatory requirements
This also results in tailor-made programmes for companies that specifically address individual continuing education needs. A central concern of the project is close exchange with regional companies and representatives from the professional field. From 2025 to 2028, programmes will be developed that combine high academic quality with concrete practical relevance and offer tangible added value for the medical technology industry.
With HFU Skills4MedTec, Furtwangen University underlines its commitment to actively shaping innovation, teaching and transfer in medical technology and making a sustainable contribution to securing skilled workers and competitiveness.
