Are ethics and sustainability particularly important to you?
In Baden-Württemberg, the “Ethikum” ethics certificate is awarded to students at universities of applied sciences who have dealt intensively with future-oriented topics relating to ethics and sustainability. It is a valuable additional qualification for bachelor's and master's students for their work in business and science.
The “Ethikum” certificate documents curiosity and foresight about the interplay of scientific, technological and social developments at a glance.
The certificate is issued by the Office of Technological and Academic Ethics (rtwe) of the Baden-Württemberg universities of applied sciences, upon approval by Furtwangen University.
Academic content for the "Ethikum"
To obtain the ethics certificate, you must participate in at least three courses in the field of ethics and sustainable development during your studies, each of which is completed with a graded assessment. One hundred so-called ethics points (EP) must be earned, which can be achieved through the following courses:
- Online ring lectures of the rtwe. If you attend the introductory ethics course and 80% of the lectures, you will receive 30 to 45 ethics points.
- Individual online courses of the rtwe with 2 ECTS. These take place as block courses and are awarded 30 ethics points.
- An HFU module from the compulsory and compulsory elective area that is clearly related to ethics or sustainability. Here you can receive up to 25 ethics points (25% of the total).
Participation in individual lectures of the online lecture series is also attractive. After registration and online participation with active contributions to the discussion, participants receive a certificate from the rwte at the end of the semester stating which lectures they have attended. Participation in an individual online lecture is awarded two ethics points and a certificate of attendance, which testifies to a comprehensive perspective.
