It is not only the Organisations for the Promotion of gifted Students (Internal link opens in the same window:Begabtenförderungswerke) or the Internal link opens in the same window:German Scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium) that offer you support during your studies or doctorate. There are also over 2000 private or public foundations, companies or private individuals that award scholarships. As a rule, these are not funded by the state and are usually aimed at a clearly defined target group. The selection criteria are therefore usually narrowly defined and scholarships can, for example, be subject- or location-specific. Nevertheless, it is worth keeping an eye out for such scholarships.
Almost completely unknown
According to estimates, only around 25% of scholarship holders receive their scholarship from a scholarship organization for gifted students. This means that a full 75% receive their scholarship from smaller private scholarship providers. However, these are often not as well known, which significantly increases the chance of receiving a scholarship.
