General information on data processing by TikTok
The social media application TikTok is an international video portal operated by the Chinese company Beijing Bytedance Technology Ltd (hereinafter referred to as ByteDance). The processing of your personal data on the TikTok website is subject to the regulations set out in the TikTok privacy policy.

No automatic data transfer through our website
Since no content, scripts or widgets from TikTok are integrated on our website, there is no automatic transfer of data to TikTok when you simply visit our website.
Only when you actively click on the link to our TikTok profile and are redirected to the TikTok website does data transmission and processing by TikTok / ByteDance take place.
This may include the following aspects, among others:
User-related information: If you have an account with TikTok, information such as your user name, your profile picture and other data voluntarily entered by you may be processed.
Technical data: When you access the TikTok website, your IP address, browser information, operating system and, if applicable, location data may be processed, among other things.
Since ByteDance, as an international provider, also transmits data to third countries, Furtwangen University has no influence on the scope, type and purpose of data processing by ByteDance.
Furtwangen University has no influence on the type and scope of the data processed by ByteDance, the type of processing and use or the transfer of this data to third parties. It also has no effective means of control in this respect.
By using TikTok, your personal data is collected, transmitted, stored, disclosed, saved and used by ByteDance.
On the one hand, ByteDance processes your voluntarily entered data such as name and user name, e-mail address, telephone number or the contacts in your address book when you upload or synchronize it.
On the other hand, ByteDance also analyzes the content you share and comment on to determine which topics you are interested in, stores and processes confidential messages that you send directly to other users, and can determine your location using GPS data, network information or your IP address in order to send you advertising or other content.
ByteDance may use analysis tools for evaluation purposes. Furtwangen University has no influence on the use of such tools by ByteDance and has not been informed of such potential use. If tools of this kind are used by ByteDance for Furtwangen University's account, Furtwangen University has neither commissioned nor approved this nor supported it in any other way. Only certain information about the number of views of individual posts, such as the number of link clicks through a particular post, can be viewed by Furtwangen University via its account. Furthermore, Furtwangen University has no way of preventing or disabling the use of such tools on its TikTok account.
Finally, ByteDance also receives information when you view content, for example, even if you have not created an account. This so-called “log data” may include the IP address, the browser type, the operating system, information about the previously accessed website and the pages you accessed, your location, your mobile phone provider, the end device you use (including device ID and application ID), the search terms you used and cookie information.
2. Data processed by Furtwangen University
Furtwangen University also processes personal data in connection with our official TikTok presence. Although no TikTok content is integrated on our website, the data you voluntarily and publicly enter on TikTok is processed in the following cases:
- Re-posting and referrals:
If we reference posts from our official TikTok profile in our company-related communication measures (e.g. in other social media channels or on our website), the publicly accessible information you provide there - such as your user name and the content you have published - will be processed by us (for example in the case of comments, replies, likes, etc.). - Interaction and communication:
If we actively interact with the content you publish on TikTok as part of our TikTok presence (for example by replying, commenting or sharing content), this data will be included in our offering and made available to our followers.
In this context, Furtwangen University only collects and processes the data that you voluntarily and publicly make available on TikTok. The processing is carried out exclusively lawfully in accordance with the provisions of §6 paragraph 1 sentence 1 e) GDPR in conjunction with §4 LDSG BW.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority in accordance with Art. 77 GDPR if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the GDPR.
