Entry requirements

A university entrance qualification that entitles you to study at a German university is required for the degree programme. In addition, an above-average professionally qualifying university degree is required. This should be in the field of engineering or the natural sciences. Admission is also possible with another degree outside the engineering or natural sciences, provided that it is clearly related to the content of the master's degree programme. For applications with fewer than 210 ECTS credit points, please refer to the Study and Examination regulations for master's degree programmes at HFU.

How do I apply?

Application must be made over our online application portal.
You must first register there.
The following documents must be uploaded during the application process. It is best to have them ready in advance.

  • An officially certified copy of the university entrance qualification*
  • An officially certified copy of the professionally qualifying university degree*
  • An officially certified copy of a course attendance list (transcript of grades, transcript of records, etc.). The course attendance list is issued by the university attended and is a list of all courses attended during the degree program with grades*.
  • Curriculum vitae in English or German.  
  • Copies of other relevant documents, if available, such as work references, which prove your particular aptitude for the master's programme.
  • Foreign and stateless applicants who have a foreign higher education entrance qualification must also provide officially certified proof of German language proficiency in accordance with Section 2 (1).
  • Applicants whose native language is not English must provide officially certified proof of English language proficiency in accordance with § 2 paragraph 1 d). 

*If the original was written in a language other than English or German, an officially certified translation into English or German.

International applicants

Foreign nationals with a German university entrance qualification are admitted in the same way as German nationals.

Foreign applicants with foreign certificates and stateless applicants should contact the contact person for the degree programme as early as possible.
