Support in dementia care
Development and evaluation of an innovative digital dementia care support system for social care in outpatient and informal long-term care at home
As a result of the "Digital Care and Long-Term Care Modernization Act", which came into force in 2021, so-called digital care applications (DiPA) were introduced as a new form of benefit in social long-term care insurance.
In contrast to the digital health applications (DiGA) that already exist in statutory health insurance, DiPAs aim to reduce impairments to the independence of people in need of care and thus counteract a deterioration in the need for care. The aim is to support the everyday lives of people in need of care and their environment. DDemPlus focuses on the possibilities of care through digital care applications for people with dementia in need of care and their relatives.
Project objective:
It is still unclear which applications offer added value in the care of people with dementia. At the same time, there is uncertainty as to how the care benefits of DiPA can be proven. As part of the project, a digital application to support the nursing care of people with dementia is therefore to be implemented and evaluated in a pilot study.
Based on this planning of an evaluation study to demonstrate the nursing benefits, a basic guideline for the evaluation of potential DiPAs is to be developed, which recommends suitable forms of evaluation depending on the type of intervention and the desired outcome.
