Partnerships (I3415)

Partnerships are not simply an option for us at Furtwangen University. Cooperation is a basic prerequisite for further development! That's why we at HFU cultivate an enriching multitude of partnerships.

For example, we work closely with schools to open up the exciting world of science to pupils. We offer Internal link opens in the same window:high-quality training courses for teachers. We partner with other universities and research institutions, and of course Internal link opens in the same window:with strong partners in industry, to promote applied research, the high quality of which is our hallmark.

We have cooperation partners for student projects and exchange programmes, for doctoral projects and patents, and we work with municipalities, cities, counties, associations, foundations and societies. By working with these many, many partners, we as a university have an active and direct impact on society. All together we shape − progress.

HFU is a cosmopolitan university that promotes intercultural and academic exchange. More than 100 partner universities worldwide offer students, academics and staff a wide range of opportunities for mobility and partnership. Students from more than 90 countries study at our three campuses.

Networks

Furtwangen University is a member of various national and international networks and university organizations:

Lake Constance Region Academic Network

Furtwangen University is a member of the cross-border university network “Wissenschaftsverbund Vierländerregion Bodensee”. This network brings together 30 universities from four countries −Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein. With over 100,000 students, around 20,000 employees and 3,000 professors, the “Lake Constance Region Academic Network” is the largest cross-university network in Europe. The association supports projects in the areas of teaching, research and development, knowledge and technology transfer and structural education, in which at least two universities from at least two of the four member states are involved.

Trinational Upper Rhine Metropolitan Region

Furtwangen University is a cooperation partner in the Trinational Upper Rhine Metropolitan Region (TMO), which sees itself as an area of excellence with a model character in the heart of Europe. The Upper Rhine Region in the border area between France, Germany and Switzerland plays a pioneering role in research, development and innovation. The TMO combines a large number of universities and research and development institutions of outstanding scientific calibre, numerous sectors with high growth potential, and a wide range of industries.

GATE-Germany

As a member university of GATE-Germany, Furtwangen University uses the services of the largest and most experienced service provider for international university marketing. GATE-Germany has been in existence since 2001 and now has 147 member universities, at which 85% percent of all international students in Germany are enrolled.

GATE-Germany's target group and region-specific offers take into account the different needs of the universities and are supported by the “Study in Germany - Land of Ideas” global image campaign. GATE-Germany also offers marketing strategies and the professional positioning of German universities on the international education market.

Winning Region Skilled Labour Alliance

Since 2013, 15 regional partners in the alliance have been pursuing the goal of securing skilled workers for the regional economy. Bottleneck occupations in the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region are identified and appropriate measures are taken to increase employment in these occupations.
