Beginners Certificate Course
Good product roadmaps aren’t based on gut feelings or isolated requirements, but on genuine user needs, an understanding of the market, and clear evaluation mechanisms. In this two-day workshop, participants will learn how product managers can systematically move from user needs through idea evaluation to a robust product roadmap – in a practical, structured way that can be applied to real-world projects, particularly in regulated environments (e.g., medical technology).
Learning objectives and content
The continuing professional development programme teaches fundamental, practical skills in the product management of medical products. The aim is to enable participants to strategically plan, evaluate and manage products in a market-oriented way throughout their entire life cycle. Key product management tasks along the value chain are covered, as are innovation processes, idea generation and evaluation, and the development and refinement of business models.
The course content includes methods and tools such as the stage-gate model, roadmapping, business cases, target costing, product portfolio analysis, and benchmarking. In addition, aspects of benefit argumentation, price-performance and cost-benefit analysis, as well as the basics of market access and reimbursement are taught. Regulatory requirements — especially in the context of the role of the medical device consultant — are also taken into account. Through a combination of lectures and group work, participants acquire both conceptual understanding and application-oriented practical skills.
Target group and prerequisites
Our certificate course is designed for beginners in product management as well as anyone involved in the design of products and product roadmaps (particularly at medical technology companies).
Prerequisites for participation are:
- completed vocational training OR
- a university degree
In addition, at least one year of professional experience is required.
No specific prior technical knowledge is required.
