Health at the workplace level
For professionals working in the fields of health promotion, prevention, and rehabilitation
Demographic change, increasing workloads, and the associated rise in mental health issues present us with particular challenges. Occupational health management can help prevent these issues, which is why the demand for specialists in this field will continue to grow.
Learning objectives and content
After completing the CAS “Applied Health Promotion,” participants will be able to:
- Identify relevant fields of application for health psychology and reflect on mental disorders in a differentiated manner
- Design and implement concrete psychological measures to promote biopsychosocial health
- Identify and address problem areas, target groups and intervention goals
- Analyse prevention and health promotion topics in an interdisciplinary manner
- Understand the background and necessity of occupational health management (OHM)
- Name the essential components of OHM in companies and other institutions
- Know the various steps and procedures involved in establishing occupational health management and apply them using case studies
- Know the essential measures of occupational health management and apply them using case studies
- Know the most important external and internal actors in OHM and classify their relevance
- Reflect on the necessity of continuous evaluation and quality assurance of occupational health management
- Plan and implement specific health-promoting measures in the workplace:
- Identify the individual needs for workplace health promotion (WHP) measures in companies
- Identify the prerequisites for specific measures
- Determine standard procedures within WHP
- Develop customised WHP concepts to ensure long-term success and sustainability
- Apply process evaluation methods and develop concrete measures for optimisation
Target group and prerequisites
Professionals working in the fields of health promotion, prevention, and rehabilitation (e.g., physiotherapy, sports science, nutrition science, medicine, health management, and health professions)
Requirements
Admission to a contact study programme generally requires a university degree or vocational training in a relevant profession as well as at least one year of professional experience. Reading skills in English are also required, but classes are held in German.
Format
Qualification
Upon successful completion, Furtwangen University will issue a certificate of continuing education. A total of 15 ECTS credits will be awarded.
What is a CAS?
A Certificate of Applied Studies (CAS) is a continuing education qualification offered by universities, primarily in German-speaking countries (e.g., Switzerland, Germany, Austria).
Objective: To deepen knowledge in a specific subject area.
Structure: Part of a modular system – several CAS can be combined to form a DAS (Diploma of Advanced Studies) or a master's degree.
