Part-time course for managers and junior managers in sales and service
Due to the complexity of products, intense competition, and customer-specific demand, services are becoming more demanding and thus a decisive factor for success in customer contact. With declining margins in the product business, profitable services are essential for survival in many companies. The HFU Academy offers this “Advanced Service Management” certificate course in cooperation with Faculty 1: Computer Science & Applications.
Learning objectives and content
Prospective service managers are taught successful methods for strategic and operational work: from the basics of service management and the design of service strategies to the development of services (service engineering) and their distribution.
After completing the training, course participants will understand the special features of services and service areas/companies and will be able to apply methods and tools of (service) management. They will be able to analyse problems and challenges in the service sector and develop and implement solutions.

- Part I – Fundamentals of Service Management
- Part II – Service Strategy and Sales
- Part III – Service Engineering and Operations
- Part IV – Service Marketing
- Part V – Participants develop their own case study as a project assignment
Target group and prerequisites
Managers and junior managers in the service sector, particularly in the automotive, capital goods, and IT services industries, service managers, and service engineering project managers.
Prerequisites
Completed university degree and at least two years of professional experience, as well as communication skills in English for the final workshop.
Format
Qualification
Upon successful completion, Furtwangen University will issue a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) for continuing academic education worth 12 ECTS credits.
What is a CAS?
A Certificate of Applied Studies (CAS) is a continuing education qualification awarded by universities, primarily in German-speaking countries (e.g., Switzerland, Germany, Austria).
Objective: To deepen knowledge in a specific subject area
Structure: Part of a modular system – several CAS can be combined to form a DAS (Diploma of Advanced Studies) or a master's degree.
