This module is part of the “Diagnostics and Management in Health Promotion” CAS. Upon successful completion of both individual modules (Diagnostics in Health Promotion & Management in Health Promotion), you will receive the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS).

Learning objectives
Upon completion of the module, participants will be able to:
- navigate the complex healthcare system
- identify opportunities, challenges, and potential solutions within the healthcare system
- understand specific management methods and apply them in specific areas of the healthcare system and health promotion
- successfully implement projects in the healthcare sector
Module content
The module covers the basics of the German healthcare system and its relevant institutions, as well as general and specific management methods and basic business administration knowledge, which are applied to practical examples.
Specifically, the module covers the following topics:
- Key players and levels of action in the healthcare system, resulting opportunities and challenges
- Fundamentals of health policy with current references, challenges of the highly fragmented system, reform approaches (Prevention Act)
- Fundamentals of management processes and the related fundamentals of business administration in relation to the healthcare system, e.g., fundamentals of project management (fundamentals of quality management; management in healthcare facilities, in particular financial management and the public health action cycle, health goals)

The interdisciplinary modules are aimed at professionals working in the fields of health promotion, prevention, rehabilitation, (health) education and (health) training:
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational therapy
- Sports science
- Nutrition science
- Health management
- Medicine
- Healthcare professions
- Therapeutic and auxiliary professions
- Nursing and geriatric care
- Sports and fitness management
- Fitness trainer
Prerequisites
Admission to a contact study programme generally requires a university degree or vocational training in a relevant profession as well as at least one year of professional experience.
Format
The module is offered in a blended learning format. One semester while working, with two weekends of classroom attendance. A Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) can be earned if taken together with the “Internal link opens in the same window:Diagnostics in Health Promotion” module.

Type of coursework
Preparation and follow-up work on the module content, continuous participation on the learning platform, active participation in the classroom sessions, preparation of a relevant topic.
Upon successful completion of the module, a certificate with 8 ECTS credits will be issued.
