Strengthen digital skills
For neighbourhood developers, community and network managers
Digital networking offers great potential for supporting social space-oriented care. However, apart from information websites, digital services have so far played hardly any role in neighbourhood concepts. Nevertheless, there is a high level of interest and openness to internet-based social services. The aim of this continuing education programme is to support neighbourhood stakeholders in the design and implementation of digital services. In addition to teaching the basics of digital neighborhood work, a joint working phase will provide guidance and support for projects to implement corresponding services.
Learning outcomes and content
The aim of the training programme is to support neighbourhood stakeholders in the design and implementation of digital services. These can be digital services in neighbourhood development (e.g. digital participation formats, digital networking) as well as digital services in individual fields of action (e.g. promoting social interaction and active neighbourhoods or providing help and support in care). In addition to teaching the basics of digital neighborhood work, projects for implementing corresponding services are accompanied and supported in a joint work phase.
Target group and prerequisites
This continuing education programme is aimed at professionals working in the fields of neighbourhood development, community and network management.
Prerequisites
Admission to a contact study programme generally requires a university degree or vocational training in a relevant profession, as well as at least one year of professional experience.
Format
1st day of attendance: Fundamentals
- Digital transformation and neighbourhood development – fundamentals
- Digital networking of citizens in the neighbourhood (social media, neighbourhood portals, etc.) and digital networking (specialist portals, etc.)
Practical examples
- Strategic planning and design of digital neighbourhood work
- Supervised self-study phase (with online exchange) – approx. 6 weeks
- Participatory self-assessment of the maturity level for digital neighbourhood development
- Strategy development for a digital neighbourhood offering
- Development of an implementation concept
2nd attendance day: Project workshop
- Presentation of work results
- Discussion and reflection among participants
- Action planning
- Tandem formation, if applicable
Qualification
Upon successful completion, Furtwangen University will issue a certificate of continuing education worth 3 ECTS credits.
Performance will be assessed in the form of a presentation. In this presentation, participants will apply the content they have learned to their own project. Information about the type and scope of the presentation will be provided in advance of each session.

Registration
Financial assistance
The fees amount to €690. This includes organisational and content support, study materials, use of the HFU platforms and the certificate, as well as snacks and refreshments during the face-to-face sessions. Costs for travel to and from the face-to-face sessions and for accommodation are not included.
If you are involved in neighbourhood development or would like to get involved, you can apply to the Neighbourhood Academy for financial support to participate in this event. The Neighbourhood Academy is financed by state funds approved by the Baden-Württemberg state parliament.
