As part of the CoHMed project, the IDACUS Institute will explore the following topic:
AI-based solutions in endoscopy image processing: robustness and certification.
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) for automatic image processing has great potential to make the data evaluation of endoscopy videos more efficient and to lead to further uses in OR organization, diagnostics and therapy. However, approval is required for the commercial use of such, possibly continuous learning systems. Within the scope of the project, different approaches to describe the quality and potential risks of the current state of the system will therefore be investigated, initially with existing and artificially generated data. In one sub-area, verifiable requirements for AI-based systems will be developed, which manufacturers can use for automatic verification.
