Midwifery Science application process

Please note the the Midwifery Science programme will be offered for the first time in Winter Semester 2021/22. As a result some institutions responsible for practical training may not yet have posted the HFU degree programme on their website.

Step 1: Apply by 15 July (deadline)

Apply with your complete application documents to one or several of our approved training institutions, where you would like to carry out the practical training part of your degree. Click here for a Internal link opens in the same window:list of approved training institutions.

Your application should include the following documents:

  • University entrance qualification or vocational training qualification as a Healthcare Assistant (Gesundheits-/Kinder-/KrankenpflegerIn nach §10 HebG)
  • Official proof of good conduct (less than 3 months old)
  • Medical certificate (less than 3 months old)
  • Proof of proficiency in German for foreign and stateless applicants (language level CEF C1, e.g., DSH-2, TestDaF min. TDN4)

Please note: our approved training institutions may have additional application requirements (e.g. CV, letter of motivation). Therefore please check the application requirements at each institution before applying.

Step 2: Organise a work contract

After you have been accepted by the hospital, sign a student contract for academic midwifery training with that hospital.

Step 3: Admission to study programme

Your student contract with the cooperating training institution is issued on the condition that you receive admission to the degree programme at HFU.

Step 4: Acceptance and matriculation at the university

When your application has been approved, you will receive information from HFU on the next steps (semester fees, matriculation, etc.).
