Details of the programme

Programme content and structure

Foundation courses

During your foundation studies, you will acquire a solid foundation in the areas of conception, audio/video production, computer graphics, user experience design and coding, as well as in business and technical topics. The underlying mathematical functions and a basic understanding of programming are also covered. At the same time, you'll have plenty of opportunity to try your hand at practical work and put what you've learned directly into practice.

Internship semester

The practical semester in the third semester of the curriculum offers you the opportunity to apply what you have learned in a company relatively early on in your studies. The aim is to understand how the various aspects of media design interact and to understand methods and applications of digital information processing.

Project work

Project studies take place in the fourth and fifth semesters. Here you and your team solve a complex task from conception to implementation. As in real working life, a wide range of qualifications are required to solve the tasks. That's why our project teams are made up of students from the three bachelor's programmes: Computer Science in Media, Media Design and Online Media. You can present your work on Media Day.

Advanced studies

In the advanced stage of your studies, the focus is on designing innovative applications for a wide range of target groups. Creative design and marketing design are just as important as interface design, e-learning / online learning and media theory. Our labs and studios provide you with the necessary equipment to implement even the wildest ideas.

Semester abroad

We recommend all our students to spend a semester abroad at one of our partner universities worldwide. The sixth semester is particularly suitable for this, as it consists almost exclusively of compulsory elective courses. This allows you to study exactly what you are interested in abroad and have it recognised with prior approval. So, get your bags packed – you won't regret it!

Faculty of Digital Media

Something new is created when the tried and tested is questioned and rethought. This is still practiced today at the Faculty of Digital Media at Furtwangen University. Whereby "old" in this context can be yesterday's innovation.

As one of the leading faculties for future media experts, we open the door to the world of media for our students. We educate young people who are curious and highly motivated. Who not only understand theory in depth, but also want to put it to the test in practice.
