The engineering psychology programme at the Tuttlingen Campus combines psychology with technology. Whether in medical technology, the automotive sector, industrial robots or multimedia devices – technology must be intuitive for users and should also be fun to use. That's why our bachelor's degree course in IP focuses primarily on the user experience.

Programme content and structure

During your seven-semester IP degree course, you'll be learning about the requirements, limits and responsibilities of human-machine interaction. Engineering psychologists are in demand in a wide range of industries!

Study focus

We focus on these topics over the seven semesters: 

  • General psychology
  • Cognitive psychology
  • Psychological methodology
  • Human-machine systems
  • Human-centered design
  • Industrial and organizational psychology
  • Ergonomics
  • Technical fundamentals
  • Management and work techniques

The 4th semester is a practical internship semester. At the end of your studies, you will write your bachelor's thesis in the 7th semester.

Your studies should fit in with your life. You don't always have the opportunity to dedicate yourself full-time and exclusively to your studies. So that you can still get to grips with the exciting content of IP and complete your bachelor's degree on the Tuttlingen Campus, we also offer this degree programme as a part-time model.

Many other sectors such as mechanical and plant engineering, the metalworking industry, equipment and machine tool manufacturing or automation and production technology also make the district one of the strongest in Germany. Typical fields of activity for engineering psychologists include product design and development, interaction design, product and project management, user research, human factors engineering, empirical research and method development, working in interdisciplinary teams, consulting and services and training.

The Faculty of Industrial Technologies on the Tuttlingen Campus is something very special.
