Details of the programme

Programme content and structure

The course deals with the physical, psychological, social and economic conditions of human health as well as the organisation of the healthcare system. For a "healthy" society, new academic qualifications are needed to meet the current challenges. We teach you them. From corona to dementia, digitalisation and climate - health affects us all. How can people stay healthy for a long time? Avoid risk factors, strengthen protective factors - learn more!

Here's how it works

During your seven semesters, we will provide you with a broad fundamental knowledge of health-related subjects. Lectures, seminars and projects will give you a solid foundation in theory and practice. In the practical semester, you can also strengthen your practical skills and gain valuable experience for career entry. You complete your studies with the bachelor thesis.

If you study full-time, your course will last seven semesters. Talk to us if you would like to study part-time or need a timetable tailored to your personal circumstances.

Workplace relevance is important for us

Over the course of two semesters, you'll be working on a "real" problem in your student research project, usually in collaboration with external partners such as a local health authority, company or rehabilitation clinic. Here you will apply project management techniques and practise scientific working methods.

Study abroad

Our university has many partnerships with universities in Australia, Mexico, the UK, the USA and other countries. For example, you can study abroad in your 6th semester to gain international experience. Our international coordinator will help you with any questions you may have.

Entry requirements

To apply for AGW, you need a university entrance qualification, i.e. either the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or a previous qualification recognised as equivalent.

If you have any questions, send us an email, give us a call or attend one of our regular online consultation sessions. Our staff and student ambassadors will be happy to answer your questions. Check the calendar below for the next dates. By the way, registration is not necessary.

AGW specifics

To give you a better idea of the issues we deal with at AGW, in the "Dominican Health" project, for example, we're helping to set up a polyclinic in the Dominican Republic. Or, using a bottom-up approach, we are lowering access barriers to the German healthcare system for migrants in the Kinzigtal.
