Study in German or English

If your German is not good enough to take lectures in German, you can select lectures from degree programmes which are taught partially or completely in English.

Lectures in English

The list of lectures for the winter semester is somewhat different from those in the summer semester. The list of lectures from the past will give you an idea of what is taught at HFU. In the lists the last column on the right is important for you: "E E" means completely in English, "E D" means German language proficiency is necessary.

German language courses

An intensive German course, either at beginner or advanced level, is provided for all our guest and exchange students as part of the two-week orientation programme which takes place directly before lectures begin.

During the semester you can also take free German courses at one of five different levels. The courses normally run for 4 hours a week. When you have reached a certain level you can take the German as a Second Language exam (TestDaF-Prüfung) at the university Language Center.
