Student loans and funds

Student loans taken for a certain time period, for example from a bank, mean that students have incurred debts in order to be able to pay for living costs or tuition fees during the period of study. Loan repayments with interest will have to be made monthly and upon graduation.

A loan from an educational fund is a special kind of student loan where the amount of repayment is connected to the level of income the student has upon graduation.

Before taking out a student loan, it is important to check carefully what alternatives you have to finance your studies, e.g. BAföG or a scholarship. We strongly recommend that you take counselling on the various options available to you before applying for a loan.
