Top rankings for Computer Science

Ranking takes a close look at study conditions

In the latest university rankings, the Faculty of Computer Science at Furtwangen University (HFU) has once again scored top points. The results of the rankings carried out by the Centre for Higher Education (CHE) were published on 8 May 2018 in the ZEIT Study Guide 2018/19.

The courses offered by the Furtwangen Faculty of Computer Science were voted among the best in the German-speaking region in the categories of "General study environment", "Completion of degree within reasonable timeframe", "Initial study support", "Workplace relevance" and "Support from teaching staff". Only 3 other Computer Science programmes received the same across-the-board top "green point" rankings in the ZEIT Study Guide. Computer Science at HFU has a long history of being awarded excellent evaluations by its students as shown by the outstanding results in the two previous CHE rankings in 2015 and 2012.

Background
The CHE University Ranking, which is the most comprehensive and detailed ranking of German higher education institutions in the German-speaking region, includes 300 universities and over 10,000 study programmes. Every year a third of the courses are newly tested by asking students to complete comprehensive questionnaires. This year, only two subjects, Computer Science and Nursing Sciences, were tested at universities of applied sciences. For Computer Science, 77 universities and universities of applied sciences in Germany and Austria were compared.

The Faculty of Computer Science
The Faculty of Computer Science has been training computer scientists for over 45 years. The Computer Science and IT Product Management bachelor's programmes, and the Computer Science and Mobile Systems master's programmes are all oriented towards current developments in technology, society and business.
