Furtwangen University (HFU) is one of Germany's most popular universities. It has achieved fifth place in the nationwide ranking of the student portal "StudyCheck". On the Internet platform, students can award their universities points in categories such as "study content," "courses," "facilities" or "digital studying." "We are very proud of an overall score of 8.87 out of a possible 10 points," says Andrea Linke, Head of Administration of Furtwangen University: "95 percent of students gave a clear recommendation for HFU!" And with this ranking, HFU ranks second among the universities in Baden-Württemberg. HFU is particularly far ahead of its competitors in terms of study content and digitalisation; the university already received a top rating in a separate "Digital Readiness Ranking" by StudyCheck at the end of January.
The ranking is based on student reports on their experiences at their universities, which are published on the platform. The student report for HFU states that the university offers very good support and advice for students even during the pandemic, as well as responding "appropriately and in a well-planned manner" to the adjustments to the current situation often necessary at short notice. "It is very important to us to offer students high-quality study content even in online mode," continues HFU Chancellor Andrea Linke, "We are aware that the situation is very stressful for many. We are very pleased that it seems to have been particularly appreciated by our students that we are available for them at all times, even in this special situation!" HFU has also launched special health promotion initiatives during the pandemic period, such as the "Move in your break” initiative and continues to make students aware of support services such as the psychotherapy counselling.
Due to its excellent range of courses, Furtwangen University repeatedly receives top ratings. HFU is also awarded outstanding scores in the well-known Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) ranking. "While this is wonderful confirmation of what we’re doing," says President Professor Dr Schofer, "it encourages us to keep an even closer eye on the needs of our students in the future!"
