This time, the teacher training courses at the HFU focus on the changes in learning and teaching brought about by AI.
Furtwangen University offers advanced training for teachers
Furtwangen University (HFU) is offering a professional development course on AI for computer science teachers on Friday, 25 September. Artificial intelligence is fundamentally changing the way we teach and learn. The course is therefore designed to give teachers the opportunity to explore the subject in depth and gain an understanding of how large language models work. Participants will also receive an introduction to Python and programme their own AI. They will learn more about the guidelines for the sensible and legally compliant use of AI in the classroom and receive many valuable tips on AI tools for teachers.
The training course will also explore questions such as how pupils learn now and will learn in the future, what role and responsibilities teachers have, and whether they can be replaced by AI. The discussion on trust in generated content will also focus in particular on critical thinking in the age of artificial intelligence.
For the first time, as part of the training programme, the HFU is also offering a panel discussion featuring best-practice examples relating to the use of AI in schools and higher education.
The training programme is organised by Faculty I ‘Computer Science and Applications’ at the HFU and is aimed at teachers of computer science at general and vocational secondary schools. The aim is to offer participants high-quality further training in specialist subject areas, as well as to provide exercises and solutions for their pupils. Furthermore, the event is intended to promote networking amongst participants and between schools and universities.
The training course will take place on 25 September from 9.00am to 4.00pm at the Furtwangen campus. Those interested can register until 18 September: https://hfu.li/5tn2.
