First female physiotherapist to earn a doctorate

Dr. Alexa von Bosse making scientific contribution to advancement of physiotherapy treatment

Furtwangen University is proud to celebrate a special academic achievement; with her doctoral degree from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Dr. Alexa von Bosse is the first physiotherapist to earn a doctorate from Furtwangen University’s Physiotherapy programme. In her dissertation, she examines relationship dynamics in long-term neurological rehabilitation—a topic of central importance to the quality of therapeutic care and the patients’ perspectives.

Since completing her bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy (BSc) and her master’s degree in Applied Health Promotion (MSc), Alexa von Bosse has been conducting research in the health sector for several years. Her focus is on care-related issues at the intersection of therapy, health sciences and patient-centred care. In this way, she contributes to the evidence-based advancement of physiotherapy practice and to integrating scientific findings more effectively into everyday clinical care.

The HFU warmly congratulates Dr. von Bosse on the successful completion of her doctoral degree and is delighted that the university’s graduates are helping to shape the future of physiotherapy and health care with their scientific expertise.
