New “Sustainable Development” degree programme in the works
Preparations are underway at Furtwangen University for a new degree programme —students will soon be able to earn a master’s degree in “Sustainable Development” in three semesters.
The new master’s programme will combine specialised expertise — such as in business administration, engineering, computer science or health sciences — with a clear focus on sustainability. Through interdisciplinary teams, faculty from multiple departments, and close collaboration with industry partners, the programme combines ecological, social and economic issues. This equips students with the skills to take on leadership roles in business, government, healthcare, academia and society in line with the UN sustainable development goals.
The programme is expected to launch in the summer semester of 2027 and can be pursued on a part-time basis or as a bilingual degree. It is the first programme at HFU to be offered on an interdisciplinary basis.
