A wide range of topics at Furtwangen University’s ‘Health Day’
How do you organise a blood donation drive? What is the link between a flourishing garden and planetary health, and how does the digital diet culture influence our eating habits? Visitors to Furtwangen University’s ‘Health Day’ received answers to these and many other questions. Our students from the Internal link opens in the same window:Applied Health Sciences (AGW), Internal link opens in the same window:Midwifery (HW) and Internal link opens in the same window:Applied Health Promotion (AGF) programmes presented the findings from their research projects and final-year dissertations. The wide range of topics in the poster exhibition and workshops sparked many discussions, covering everything from mental health among children and young people in the Schwarzwald-Baar district to mindful eating amongst students, right through to issues in nursing.
A particular highlight was the presentation of new features in the Internal link opens in the same window:Planetary Health Campus Garden. As part of a semester-long project, the garden was expanded to include a permaculture area and additional beds. The students guided the interested group of spectators and project participants through the garden and reported on the progress of the project and the garden’s special features. A second project group planted lady’s mantle there to raise awareness of women’s health. It has been used for centuries in women’s medicine to treat ailments.
