Experiments with fire and ice

to HFU News

A lecture in the HFU Summer School series

In their experimental show ‘Fire and Ice’, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Krause and Prof. Dr. Gerhard Kirchner demonstrate spectacular experiments ranging from -196°C to over 1,000°C. Cryogenically cold liquid air plays just as much a part as a candle flame: The show answers questions such as how a rose reacts to extremely low temperatures, what the correct behaviour is in the event of a fire in a building, and why a water-filled balloon does not burn. From 11.00am onwards, you’re sure to be hooked. Anyone interested is invited to attend the free talk in G Building, Room 0.08, on the Furtwangen campus.
