Diverse projects at the “Show of Work and MediaNight” at Furtwangen University

On Thursday, 2 July, visitors to Furtwangen University (HFU) can experience how the real and digital worlds merge. Students from the HFU School of Design and Media will present final projects, semester work and a variety of other projects from the 2026 summer semester.

The research project “Echoes of Existence” links a computer game with physical space. It explores how stories can be experienced through spaces, objects and exploration, rather than simply being told. At the same time, it raises the question of what “existence” means in a world where reality can be fully simulated.

An interactive mirror will also be presented, designed for functional diagnosis and visual feedback in physiotherapy. A camera system detects the posture of patients and displays it as a 3D figure on a large screen, making it immediately visible whether legs and joints are correctly aligned during exercises. Many other exciting projects, such as audio productions and an art gallery, offer a comprehensive insight into the world of media and studying at HFU.

The Show of Work will take place from 3.00pm to 6.00pm in the I Building on Furtwangen Campus (Unterallmendstraße 21). Afterwards, from 7.30pm, visitors are invited to the “MediaNight” in the outdoor area of the I Building. Short films, trailers and more produced by students will be shown on a large screen.

Everyone interested is warmly invited to attend both events, which are free of charge. Further information on the “Show of Work and MediaNight” is available (in German) on the university website: https://hfu.li/2aj
