Alumni from the graduating classes of 1990 through 1994 visit HFU

Memories of student days rekindled

Some connections last a lifetime. This was impressively demonstrated on Saturday, 16 May, when former students of Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, Electronics, Precision Engineering and Product Engineering returned to HFU. More than 30 years after graduating, the alumni returned to HFU and embarked on a journey down memory lane.

Together with Kerstin Kiy and Ralf Schellhammer, they explored Buildings G, H, I, B and C. It quickly became clear that even though the university has changed significantly over the past three decades, their memories of their student days remain vivid. They shared stories from lectures, projects and campus life, while memories of days gone by were rekindled in many corners of the campus.

Many of the alumni are connected by far more than just their studies. They lived together in Großhausberg, were active in the AStA or the Kinoref, and have maintained their friendships to this day. Every year, they meet on Ascension Day − a tradition that has endured since their student days.

For most, it was their first visit to HFU since graduating. This made it all the more exciting to see how the university has developed. Particularly noteworthy − what once grew together through friendships and shared experiences across different degree programmes now also has its organisational place within the Faculty of Computer Science & Applications.

The visit was filled with many memories, interesting conversations, and the joy of seeing each other again. We would like to express our sincere thanks for the visit and the open dialogue − and we are delighted that our connection to HFU remains so strong even after more than 30 years.
