Part of "MedTalk" lecture series at Furtwangen University
Artificial intelligence opens up new possibilities in medical applications—from precise diagnostics to personalised therapeutic approaches. However, technological progress also brings new challenges. That is why the Connected Health in Medical Mountains (CoHMed) project at Furtwangen University (HFU) is inviting participants to discuss this timely topic.
On Tuesday, 11 June, the university will host the “AI in Medical Applications – Understandable and Reliable” event as part of the “MedTalk” lecture series. The programme includes two presentations from experts. HFU Professor Dr. Holger Ziekow will demonstrate how artificial intelligence can help make complex models understandable and transparent, where the limits of these approaches lie, and what insights can already be derived from current research projects. In her presentation, HFU Professor Dr.-Ing. Maja Temerinac-Ott will explore how reliable and reproducible AI-supported image recognition is achieved. She will discuss what matters beyond mere accuracy metrics and how future developments will enable scalable and interpretable clinical implementation.
Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for participants and speakers to engage in conversation, share experiences and exchange ideas with colleagues from industry, research, and development.
The MedTalk event will take place from 4.00 to 6.00pm at the HFU Innovation and Research Center (IFC) in Tuttlingen (Katharinenstraße 2). The event is being staged by MedicalMountains in cooperation with the CASE4Med project and the CoHMed innovation and transfer partnership.
