37th Safety and Security Dialogue at Furtwangen University
On Tuesday, 9 June, a lecture on the topic of “Safety in the Wind Energy Industry” will be held at Furtwangen University (HFU). Wind energy accounts for around 30% of Germany’s energy mix playing a key role in the energy transition. Throughout the entire life cycle of wind turbines, there are diverse and specific occupational risks, which speaker Tim Braun will discuss in detail during his presentation. He will also point out creative solutions for risk mitigation in the development, construction, operation and decommissioning of wind turbines. In addition, he will provide insights into his daily work as an occupational safety specialist and fire safety officer in this multifaceted field, with a special focus on the rescue of injured persons from wind turbines.
Tim Braun is an HFU alumnus who, after many years working as a paramedic, completed his degree in Security and Safety Engineering in 2022. Since 2024, he has been working as a safety engineer at RWE in the field of occupational safety, specifically in wind turbines.
The lecture begins at 4.00pm in Room 0.01 of the C Building on the Furtwangen campus. It is the 37th lecture in the “Furtwangen Safety and Security Dialogue” lecture series, which the “Security and Safety Engineering” and “Risk, Reliability and Safety Engineering” degree programmes organise. In this series, professionals from the field regularly give presentations on relevant topics in the security industry.
All those interested are welcome to attend this free event; no prior registration is required.
