F-SIE women's network workshop at Furtwangen University
Women remain underrepresented in engineering and safety technology. The F-SIE network (Women for Safety, Innovation, and Application) at Furtwangen University aims to help change this and increase the proportion of women in this field, particularly in leadership positions. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space for a period of three years.
A central component of F-SIE is a two-year mentoring programme that connects women at various stages of their careers, from first-year students and recent graduates to experienced professionals. The network's third workshop took place at the HFU on the Furtwangen campus in early March. The event, aimed at female students and working women in safety engineering, offered professional exchange, practical insights and inspiration for personal development.
The morning session focused on leadership. HFU professor of business administration and engineering, Prof. Dr. Michael Engler, demonstrated in a practical way how leaders can sustainably enhance both the satisfaction of their team members and the success of their organisations. Professor Engler conducts research at HFU in the field of motivational leadership and is also the author of books on this topic.
Another exciting highlight of the networking event was a tour of the Siemens training reactor at HFU.
