Prof. Ulrike Lindwedel now teaches in Faculty III
As the new professor of nursing science at Furtwangen University, Prof. Ulrike Lindwedel introduces herself with our three questions for new appointees:
What professional experience do you bring to HFU?
I am a certified nurse and have worked in various nursing care settings. Between my studies in nursing management and health sciences, I continued to work in nursing practice. I then worked as a research assistant for many years. At the same time, I led a project on caring communities that focused on new forms of community care and support in rural areas. Most recently, I worked as a nursing science staff member at the Schwarzwald-Baar Clinic. In my work, I deal in particular with issues relating to the care of people with dementia, the role development and implementation of academically qualified nurses, and international care concepts.
How did you find out about Furtwangen University?
I already know Furtwangen University well, as I worked here for many years as a research assistant. During this time, I was involved in various research projects and experienced the university as a place where practical research and interdisciplinary collaboration play an important role. I am therefore all the more delighted to be returning to the university in a new role and taking on the professorship for nursing science, initially as a substitute professor.
Which degree programme do you teach in, and what are you particularly looking forward to as a new professor at HFU?
I teach in Faculty III – Health, Medical and Life Sciences – in the Applied Health Sciences degree programme. I am particularly looking forward to discussing current topics in nursing science with students, initiating new nursing science projects, and continuing existing teaching and research activities. At the same time, I am looking forward to seeing many familiar faces, as well as new ones, at the university and working together to further develop HFU and its degree programmes.
