Learning Centre

Prof. Dr. Holger Conzelmann, Prof. Dr. Kirstin Tschan, Dr. Elmar Dammann

New this summer semester is a Learning Centre open to students of all faculties every Wednesday afternoon from 2.00 to 5.30pm. The centre is located in A 0.08. HFU students are welcome to come along without registering in advance.

The Learning Centre is funded by the Ministry of Education within the framework of the "HFU Successful Start" project. The aim is to provide assistance in basic subjects for students of all study programmes. The initiators of the project, Prof. Dr. Kirstin Tschan, Prof. Dr. Holger Conzelmann and Dr. Elmar Dammann wanted to establish somewhere where all first year students and those resitting exams, could meet to get help with the courses they are having problems with. Whether they need to revise the basics of the STEM subjects, have specific questions, or just need some extra practice - 15 tutors are available to help out.

A smaller pilot project carried out in winter semester 2018/2019 showed the need for something like this – and the first successes have already been achieved: one resitter who came to the learning centre regularly, passed the resit exam with a 1.7!
