Mandatory electives in the degree programmes

Current faculties and degree programme electives (WPVs)  can be found in the HFU timetable: stundenplan.hs-furtwangen.de/splan/. Select study programme WPV and the appropriate group (e.g. WPV IN).

Mandatory couses from other areas of specialization or degree programmes at the Faculty of Computer Science can also be taken as electives.

Practical Computer Science lecture series as elective

Agile software development, the Internet of Things, From Design to Product: these are some of the interesting topics of the Practical Computer Science lecture series. Experienced practitioners, project managers, strategists and scientists from industry hold lectures and workshops every week on current computer science themes.

The Practical Computer Science lecture series is mandatory for students in the Faculty of Computer Science bachelor's programmes. The lectures are also open to anyone else who is interested. The lectures take place on Mondays from 3.45 - 6.45pm in the Winter Semester, from 01.10. 2018 on. Further information: List of lectures.

Certificate: IT Security Officer in Public Administration

Additional qualification for students as IT Security Officer

The HFU Adademie has developed the IT Security Officer in Public Administration course to enable our students to gain a meaningful professional qualification in this field.

This certificate course is offered to students of the bachelor's programmes in Security and Safety Engineering and Computer Science. The certificate qualification can be taken during the normal HFU degree programme. The certificate is based on the 100-1 to 100-3 standards of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). The examination is carried out according to the examinations regulations of the Federal Academy for Public Administration (Prüfungsordnung der Bundesakademie für öffentliche Verwaltung - BAköV) of 01.01.2007.

  • Compilation of guidelines for information security
  • Central information security measures
  • Encryption procedures and electronic signatures
  • Drafting of security plan in accordance with the BSI basic protection
