Leadership

The topic of "leadership" is taking up an increasing amount of space in the ever more complex world of work with rising competition and increasing work compression. According to a recent Gallup study from 2020, only 16% of German employees are highly motivated, while 69% do duty by the book and 15% have quit internally. These numbers have been consistently poor for many years. Among other causes, a main reason is a non-adapted or outdated leadership.

At the faculty we investigate modern developments in leadership research as well as current and future leadership concepts related to their effectiveness in real working life. For this purpose, e.g. extensive expert interviews are conducted in different companies and the results are analysed and compared with the state of research. Topics used as a basis include:

  • The value model according to Graves for organizations (also known as "Spiral Dynamics")
  • The ego development model according to Loevinger for individuals
  • Motivation of people: practical and theoretical concepts
  • Wiseman's leadership model of "nurturers" and "nurturers" (good and bad leaders) based on over 200 interviews
  • Cybernetic principles of regulation of organizations

The results will be used to derive new concepts for improved leadership methods and structures, as well as to develop guidelines for adapted recruitment methods. These concepts will then be published step by step and introduced into companies in order to improve leadership behavior, prevent increasingly frequent burn-out problems and increase overall job satisfaction.
