Case Studies Seminar

Description

The case study method was introduced as a teaching method in American Business Schools more than 100 years ago. It has many advantages over traditional lectures in the teaching of narrative knowledge, e.g. marketing, management.

With the case study method students sit together in the lecture hall to read and discuss the case (e.g. a product launch or an advertising concept). Small groups of 4 to 6 students are then formed to carry out internet research and find a solution. The professor is also present at this time to answer questions. The solutions are later presented and discussed in plenary.

Thus, as well as gaining practical know-how, this method enables students to develop soft skills such as teamwork and the ability to present and defend their ideas.
