IT Orientation Prep Course launched at Furtwangen University
This winter semester, Furtwangen University has launched the first orientation programme in Germany to focus specifically on the diverse areas of application of computer science. The first seven participants in the “Internal link opens in the same window:IT Orientation Prep Course” have been able to try out the full range of courses with a computer science component for a few weeks now. The course is the university's second orientation programme, the first being the “Internal link opens in the same window:Technical Orientation Prep Course”.
Over a period of six months, participants discover the exciting content of various bachelor's degree programmes and get a real taste of campus life. They not only get an impression of everyday life as a student, but also explore the diverse disciplines and fields of application of computer science. The pre-study programme is the ideal preparation for a range of bachelor's degree programmes at Furtwangen University, including “General Computer Science”, “IT Product Management”, “Artificial Intelligence and Robotics”, “IT Security and Cyber Security”, “Computer Science in Media”, “Games & Immersive Media” and the two Business Information Systems degree programmes, “Digital Business & eCommerce” and “Business Data Science”.
In a relaxed and supportive environment, participants can find out which computer science degree best suits their interests and goals. Examinations taken can be credited towards a later bachelor's programme − if the content is appropriate − making it even easier to start studying. There is no pressure − failing exams has no negative consequences.
The orientation programme is aimed at anyone who wants to prepare specifically for a university degree or is still unsure about their choice of course. In addition to subject-specific content, the programme teaches valuable key skills such as time and self-management as well as other soft skills, which are helpful at university and in professional life.
Participants also receive comprehensive advice on choosing their future field of study. The “IT Orientation Prep Course” is therefore more than just a university tryout − it serves as an orientation, supporting participants in making an informed decision for their future education and career path. With this unique offer, Furtwangen University creates ideal conditions for a successful start to a degree programme with a computer science component.
The application phase for the coming summer semester has just started − from now until 15 January prospective students can apply for a place at HFU, including of course for the new orientation programme.
