In addition to the lectures by the lecturers, the focus is also on the joint discussion of individual case studies that the participants can contribute.

Medical ethical challenges are increasingly shaping the everyday lives of healthcare professionals. In addition to the recent experiences with the coronavirus pandemic, there are three main reasons for this: Firstly, the rapid mechanization of medicine confronts us with the question of which of these far-reaching possibilities we actually want to use. Secondly, we are experiencing an ever-increasing focus of healthcare services on making a profit. And thirdly, the increasing ideological pluralization of society means that people in the healthcare sector have to take very different ideas of the good life into account. This threefold dynamic is profoundly changing the everyday professional lives of doctors, nurses, therapists and clinic managers, as well as employees from medical technology companies and health insurance companies. These ethical challenges are confusing, demanding and therefore often difficult to resolve. There is also a lack of time and opportunity in everyday life to discuss these issues openly. The medical ethics course offers healthcare practitioners the opportunity to acquire comprehensive ethical background knowledge under the guidance of renowned lecturers, to engage in an appreciative interprofessional exchange and to develop concrete solutions for their own tasks.
