Our slogan "Sustainability in your backpack" is inspired by the foundation of Furtwangen University in 1850 as the German Clockmaking School. At that time the Black Forest clock peddlars carried their clocks out into the world in their backpacks. With "Sustainability in your backpack" we want to symbolize the need to contribute to sustainable development (SEED) in an active and long-term manner through education and innovation. This happens locally at the University through networking with businesses, local councils and research institutes, and internationally with our partner universities.

The principle of "Sustainability in your backpack" is alive in all faculties at HFU. In the following short videos, we want to show you the wide range of SEED activities at HFU. The people in the videos can be contacted directly. They will be able to give you a deeper insight into the activities of each faculty and tell you about opportunities for cooperation for semester projects, bachelor's and master's theses, lectures and joint research.

If you have any suggestions or questions about cooperation, please feel free to contact Prof. Dr. Achim P. Karduck, the Senate Representative for Sustainable Development.
