The internship semester has to has a duration 20 weeks (no less that 95 working days (excluding holidays, sick days, weekends etc.) at the company) and is meant to augment and deepen what has been learned during one's studies through experiences made working in an actual business context. Additionally it is intended to correct wrong expectations about working life in the position sought, allowing, if necessary to re-think one's direction.
The internship can take place - depending on the possibilities in the company and the student's chosen focus - in one or more of the following fields of operation: finance and accounting, marketing and sales, company organisation and management, personnel and human ressource management, production management. The size, sector and location of the chosen company are less decisive, however, the intern should be able to sufficiently communicate in the local language and / or the language used within the company.
By the time they start their internship semester, the students will have acquired the main priciples of business studies, accounting, project management, business law, economics, logistics, marketing, statistics and intercultural communication. They will have additional knowledge in finance, business psychology and tax law as well as speak English fluently in a business context. Depending on their regional focus they will also have a very good grasp of French or Spanish or be able to communicate orally and in written form in Mandarin Chinese.
The intern is obliged to draw up an internship report follwing the internship and the company has to issue a relevant letter of reference. Details regarding the internship report can be found here .
